Welcome to Protect Adoptable Labs (PALs) an all-volunteer non-profit rescue
group dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned or at risk Labrador
Retrievers and Lab mixes.
Labs are the most popular dog in America - over twice as many are
registered with the AKC as the next most popular breed. That's great!
 |
But Labs are also the most often euthanized dog in America,
usually because they have been abandoned or turned
in to shelters by their owners. The "cute-as-can-be puppy" last
year when they got him is now "too much trouble." He wants
to play - can you imagine that? Or he digs a little - because he
never gets attention or any exercise. He barks - because he's learned
that that's the only way anyone pays him any attention. |
Labs are people dogs - that's why they're recommended for families
and for people who want a companion -- and they're treasured by groups
looking for service dogs.
PALs wants to do whatever we can to give these abandoned and homeless
dogs another chance to have the great life they deserve. Read the
stories. Enjoy the pictures.
You can help. PALs does not have a shelter where we can provide even
a temporary home to these great dogs. We rely on foster homes. And
then we rely on the internet and events to get our dogs into new
wonderful permanent homes.
Read 10 Fostering Myths and think about saving a dog's life by rescuing
it even for a week or two. Read the Stories about just a few of the dogs PALs has helped and the wonderful people who care so much.
Look over the 100 Ways to Help and see
if even one fits your situation. Send a tax-deductible donation, either
by check or by Paypal. Volunteer at a local shelter or with an area rescue group. Check out some dogs that need new homes; think
about taking one of these great dogs into your home as your new family
member.
There are lots of ways you can save a wonderful dog's life.
